Door Provinciale Staten van Drenthe op 2 juli 2014 vastgestelde versie van Cultuurhistorische hoofdstructuur - gebieden. De provincie Drenthe richt zich op het waarborgen van de cultuurhistorische samenhang voor de toekomst. De initiatiefnemers hebben de verantwoordelijkheid om de cultuurhistorische hoofdstructuur (bijvoorbeeld Frederiksoord en Veenhuizen) als inspiratiebron te benutten. De provincie beoordeelt de plannen en initiatieven daarop. Komt voor in kaart 2F: Kernkwaliteit Cultuurhistorie.
